About Our Contest
The Fall into Fiction Short Story Contest is ALMOST here!
Storyshares is teaming up with Readworks for this exciting new opportunity designed especially for high school students. From September 22 to November 21, 2025, we're looking for compelling, creative short stories that engage teen readers and help bring literature to life in the classroom.

For this contest, there will be two winners, one from the 9-10th grade division and one from the 11-12th grade division. Winning entries will receive cash prizes and be published on Readworks.org, where they'll reach thousands of classrooms. Select stories will also be adapted into fluency passages for Storyshares' LIFT program, giving students around the world the chance to grow their reading skills through your words.

This is a chance to become a published author, gain exposure across two leading literacy platforms, and make a lasting impact on readers everywhere.
Entry is completely free, one per person, and open to high school students worldwide.

Every entry that meets the unique Storyshares guidelines has the chance to be published. This is an opportunity for writers to expose their work to a large network of readers, and for their words to improve literacy outcomes across the globe.
Readers across 180 countries have spent over 1 million hours reading Storyshares books
